In the studio with … Deejay Grazzhoppa

We had the Belgian DJ, producer and turntable-wizard Dj Grazzhoppa in our studio for a session and an interview!

We talked about how he started to be a DJ back in the days, how he actually started with breakdancing and later started to make mixtapes for the breakers.

Now 25 years and numerous projects later, he has an album out on the London based label Chess Moves Cartel, called Intricate Moves vol. 2. In the first part of the radioshow, he played for us a selection out of this album. Here's his bandcamp where you can listen to the full album and buy the music.

Besides that, he formed a group called True Mastaz with JMega (MC) and MighGawd (beatmaker) from California. They made already 3 albums together and the chemistry is still very fresh!

And be sure to check this out: The Hip Hop Honey Badger. With Sparkii Ski, a producer from London he made this great mix. Sparkii Ski is part of the collective 'King of the Beatz' and they organize these great beat challenges where beatmakers get £20 to buy records and with those records they have to make a beat to participate to a contest. On the upcoming tracks of Sparkii, DJ Grazzhoppa provides the scratches.

And last but definitly not least, you might know the DJ Bigband, that he created back in 2003. They are currently touring with the show called Back to Scratch. Also, they're preparing the soundtrack for a silent movie which will be shown in the Decascoop cinema in Gent on 18/04. How cool is that! All info on the bigband and the movie right here.
