Lazy Dazy
Let me give a little presentation about myself.
My name is Vanessa Gaudy a.k.a LazyDazy (trust me, not such a long story if u know me :p) and i’m just doing my thing in life.
I was born in Lusaka (Zambia), I lived in Lubumbashi (DRC) for a few years and then I came to this little tiny country Belgium
I live in Ghent right now, and I love this town, but I’m actually a real city-hopper.
The things I do are so numerous and even though I wish I could do so much more, the time puts a stop on it. But first things first.
Musically, I started listening to Jazz & Soul, later on more P-Funk and then ended up listening to Hip Hop. And until today i’m in love with it and the total lifestyle around it!
Already as a kid I started playing the guitar and singing. But with getting older I gave up on that and bought myself an MPC and still having the time of my life with that sweet little antique thingy! Thooo yeah y’all thinking, where’s your music? Sorry folks, it’s my thing and when I’m ready, I’m ready even if it takes me 20y so stop stressing me out on that one! Having the MPC also brings the love for vinyl! Don’t have so much, due to my low-on-cash-flow lifestyle but I just love vinyl and I love diggin’ the crates even more.
What’s going on right now? As I always knew a normal job would bore me just too quickly, I chose an education more interesting for me. After finishing my Social Cultural education in Ghent I went for a Cultural Management degree in Antwerp. Which I’m ‘still’ finishing (telling u LazyDazy). Yeah a girl can have her dreams, and I have big dreams.
In the meantime I try to work on some things doing management projects here and there. This is what I love, since I’m a very social person, and I love meeting new people and having adventures, meaning that I like to travel around, so what’s going on in Hip Hop and help people out in all sort of things. Yeah, I do hope it will get me over world someday, I work hard enough and I love the people I’m working with.
How does it feel to be a ‘lady” within the Hip Hop scene? I dunno! Sometimes I just find it more then normal. Yes, I’m a woman. Yes, I love Hip Hop. There are times I’m like, what’s the big deal? But then tho, I realize, ok you don’t find so many women in the Hip Hop scene. Why? I don’t know! I wish I could answer that question. Tho the thing is, even though I realize that being an artist, being a Female artist is not easy if you go to the more old skool / underground scenes. And I believe it’s not only with Hip Hop. Maybe in the old days women had to prove much more, but I really believe if you are a good musician, or a good artist you don’t have to prove yourself anymore. And it doesn’t matter if ur a man or a woman! But I do understand, a lot of women are afraid of the reaction of some men. And that’s why we all have to show, we don’t care. If you’re good, you’re good. So if you know how to kick sum ass, HOLLLEEEER.
You know, it’s not such a big scene, especially if you look at the whole old skool scene and mentality, which I adore, it’s very simple. You sleep, breath and eat Hip Hop. We’re all one! I didn’t have to prove myself, I just share the same interests as many of my friends. And this makes life more easy! You just go with the flow. Don’t be a fool, don’t be that gold-chained motherfucker that thinks the world is his own, y’all know who i’m talking about. Just be YOURSELF!!! Life is too short you know. Little intermezzo, talking about life being to short. I love going to concerts, going out with friends, I just looooove to have fun, too much maybe
.
So now I guess you know a bit of myself! Just enjoy life
My family
Enjoy their music!
