Belgium based photographer, known by the name of Lizairo, funder of Snap Photography and a member of the SupAfly Collective.
Born in 1982, growing up with the old skool flow and the female emcees starting to kick the mic, was one of the best years to come yet…and to live in those times has turned out to be a big influence for her.
It all started in 1998 with the first processing of a black and white film in her home based doka. Later on when the digital era started, she changed some grains for digits. Evolution is everything but you cannot let go of the basics. So her love for the old-school photography lays in her roots.
Lizairo’s flow stems from the urban style with that ‘touch’ of hip hop innit because this is a part of her life, her reality, her world. Her portrait collection growing every day and taking you back into the spirit of the soul captured on the picture.” In front of, where you are after another reality, of visions, to explore, the ray of light, trough my eyes, reflects on yours, to shine thru.”
Representing a collection portraits of Mo & Grazz, La Melodia, Ursula Rucker, Yarah Bravo, Pursuit Grooves, Kool Koor, Funk of the L.O.T.U.G., Jeru, Camp Lo, Slum Village, Kon&Amir…. Just to name a few. Finding the essence of the soul and let it shine.
You can see her work on the LP cover of Kon&Amir of BBE music, Anatittude magazine, Cheeba Cheeba flyers, Chuck’KOOL’ Hargrove in ISEL magazine, Apollo magazine, cover of MO&Grazz, Supafly flyers. ..
Alongside she put her energy in a photography “project B” based in Ghent to stimulate the kids of the streets to express themselves in useful things and to let them grow. Later on Lizairo became a member of the Supafly Collective together with Fatoosan, Lazy Dazy, Jo Bee, Jee Nice, Mikigold, Nadia-o. Bringing back the “real” hip hop scene alive focusing on the women’s role in all of this and kicking it all the way on FM Brussels 98.8FM every Thursday at 9pm with the live Supafly radio show.
Series of new expositions and new collaborations, time will reveal more.
